AMPO POYAM VALVES will supply 900 highly engineered MOV gate valves in 2020, for Dangote oil refinery, an integrated refinery, and petrochemical complex under construction in the Lekki Free Zone near Lagos, Nigeria. The refinery is expected to be Africa’s biggest oil refinery and the world’s biggest single-train facility.
EIL (Engineers India Limited) was awarded the engineering, construction and procurement contract for this new complex and EIL is consequently, the EPC for this project. Both companies have relied upon AMPO POYAM VALVES for the design and manufacture of 900 electric actuated valves for several ring units within the refinery. Some of them will be high-pressure gate valves (2500 lbs pressure seal design valves) as well as large-sized valves.
All the valves will be controlled through Master Stations, which will also be supplied by AMPO POYAM VALVES. All those valves and systems are considered critical for the plant.
With the achievement of this new milestone, AMPO strengthens its presence in Africa.
The Dangote complex, which is estimated to cost USD 12bn, will have an annual refining capacity of 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) and 830,000 tpa polypropylene. It will process a variety of light and medium grades of crude to produce Euro V-quality clean fuels including gasoline and diesel, as well as jet fuel and polypropylene.
