ARCA anti surge valve in China’s LNG Tanker

China’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker “Pan Asia” recently undocked in Hudong Zhonghua shipyard/ Shanghai. “Pan Asia” is the first tanker for the Pan Union LNG project and, with a capacity of 174000 m3, is expected to bring China 1.5 million tons/year of clean energy. Integration of dual fuel electric propulsion technology and a re-liquefaction plant is the first application in a large LNG tanker.

Arca Regler GmbH/ Germany made a remarkable contribution to the re-liquefaction system on the LNG tanker by providing the necessary compressor anti-surge valves. Arca delivered the first 4 pc valves which were installed with the compressor on the “pan Union” tanker. In the meantime the second and third batch of anti-surge valves have also been delivered. The tanker will be finally tested in January to March 2017 and will then start operation transporting LNG produced in Queensland, Australia to China.

The anti-surge valves, will prevent surging by accurate adjustment of gas circulation or blow-off flow, timely and effectively to protect the safety of the compressor unit. The valves are fitted with multistage cage plugs and fixed noise reduction, ANSI class V metal sealing, perfect configuration of actuator accessories and strict hookup.
