ATI’s valve actuators for power generation

Automation Technology (ATI) recently provided linear valve actuators for two state-of-the-art natural gas-fired power generation facilities currently under construction. The plants, Middletown Energy Center in Ohio and the Kings Mountain Energy Center in North Carolina, are owned by NTE Energy. Both facilities are scheduled to be substantially completed in 2018.

ATI’s spring-return linear actuators will operate Smith one-inch, 600# gate valves provided by Volk Flow Controls. The valves and actuators will be used on low pressure superheater steam outlet drain valves and low pressure induction after seat drain valves at each facility. The fail-open pneumatic actuators include limit switches and solenoids on each unit, mounted and tested at the ATI Houston facility.

The actuators were mounted to the valves by ATI, and the complete package was supplied for installation by Gemma Power Systems, the EPC contractor for both plants.

ATI manufactures quarter-turn hydraulic and gas-over-oil actuators, multi-turn direct gas actuators, power systems, and cutting-edge controls.
