Auma supports power plant evolution

Aware that it is critical to maintain power plant operation and avoid any down-time when replacing essential equipment, Auma is supporting the evolution of power plants with a solution that utilises existing cables. Auma actuators are available with or without integral controls and address the most common challenge of obsolescence, that of direct replacement of early or basic designs without the need to change the overall control philosophy of the plant. The replacement actuation solution from Auma is as effective as it is achieved with the company’s standard product range. Additional advantages include easy setting of torque/limit switches. According to Auma it is the only true modular actuation solution featuring an adaptable plug & socket design: as a result, future upgrades can be done on site without replacing the entire actuator. Providing essential valve automation, Auma actuators are supplied for all power generation providers including gas-fired plants, coal-fired stations and nuclear reactors. The actuators are used in applications that are critical in optimising plant efficiency, including remote control of high-pressure valves. At the moment the company is working with a number of plants to address obsolescence.
