BHEL to upgrade Sagardighi power plant

State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has been contracted to develop West Bengal Power Development Corporation Ltd’s (WBPDCL) 1000MW Sagardighi Thermal Power Project Stage-II. The USD 712 million contract involves the addition of two 500MW, pulverized coal-fired units to the existing power plant at Sagardighi. Sagardighi Thermal Power Station is at Manigram village, 13 km N of the Sagardighi town in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal. BHEL’s scope of work in includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of steam turbines, generators and boilers; associated auxiliaries and electricals; state-of-the-art controls and instrumentation; a switchyard; and civil works for the main plant package.
