BJ Process and Pipeline Services (BJ PPS) today announced that it has been awarded a major contract by BP Pipelines Vietnam B. V. and BP Exploration Operating Company Limited to provide a range of pipeline commissioning and testing services for the BP Nam Con Son Gas Project in Vietnam. The new BP platform is located approximately 360km (224 miles) offshore Vung Tau, with the primary pipeline surfacing with a safety valve at Long Hai, continuing approximately eight kilometres (five miles) over land to the new terminal at Dinh Co. BP is the operator of the platform, pipeline and terminal on behalf of their partners PetroVietnam, ONGC Videsh and Conoco. On the pipeline services side, BJ PPS is delivering related pipeline commissioning services that include cleaning and hydrotesting. TriEthylene Glycol (TEG) will be used to simultaneously dewater and condition the export pipeline for gas transport. In addition, BJ PPS has been awarded a contract by BP pipeline lay subcontractor European Marine Contractors (EMC) to deliver flooding and gauging services on the export and interfield pipelines. Primary management of the new BP Nam Con Son Gas Project is being carried out in Ho Chi Minh City, with BJ Services’ (Singapore) representative office in Vietnam servicing the project from the BJ PPS network of bases in Dubai UAE, Singapore and Perth, Australia. Already, BJ PPS has commenced work on the engineering phase of the contracts. Operations will begin in June 2002 with the flooding services for EMC, with final completion of the contracts scheduled for January 2003.
