BMC approves bund wall and gate valve installation

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has approved a Rs 2.5-crore project to construct a gabion wall, or bund wall, along the seashore near Ram Kund tank in Banganga. This initiative is part of the tank’s rejuvenation plan, aimed at preventing the entry of seawater and debris. Additionally, a gate valve will be installed to regulate water flow within the tank.

Desilting Work: The tender for appointing a contractor has been completed, and a purchase order will soon be issued. This work will be carried out under the supervision of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and a project management consultant.

Gate Valve Installation: A proposal has been sent to state archaeology officials for approval. Once cleared, the tender for the installation will be floated following their guidelines.

Heritage Precinct Rejuvenation: The tender process for restoring the Banganga precinct area is nearing completion and will conclude within a few days.
