Global powertrain supplier BorgWarner finalised its acquisition of Gustav Wahler & Co. A producer of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valves and tubes and engine thermostats for on- and off-road applications, Wahler’s customers include leading automotive manufacturers from around the world.
“The addition of Wahler complements our current EGR valve, cooler and tube technologies while expanding BorgWarner’s product portfolio to include thermostats. With its global locations, the acquisition strengthens our product-leadership position and enhances our ability to offer customers advanced technologies with localised manufacturing”, said James R. Verrier, president and CEO, BorgWarner. “As emissions regulations become more stringent and drivers require more fuel economy, demand for EGR technologies is expected to continue to grow. BorgWarner is positioned to deliver.”
BorgWarner announced the acquisition of all shares in Wahler December 2013, and completed the acquisition in March 2014. Wahler will join the BorgWarner Emissions Systems business. BorgWarner will maintain the Wahler name as a product brand in the aftermarket.
