Borouge awards contract for plant expansion

Borouge has awarded a contract worth USD 111 million to Alpine Bau Deutschland AG to construct the non-process buildings of the Borouge 3 expansion project in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi. The Borouge 3 mega-project is already well underway, with its planned production capacity to increase by 2.5 million tns/year to 4.5 million tns/yr of polyolefins by 2014.  Borouge is a joint-venture between Austrian based Borealis and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.
