Technological innovation: Breakthrough from “Following the Pack” to “Taking the Lead”
Zhejiang Boteli Technology Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as “Boteli”) has managed to build its brand in the fiercely competitive international market, primarily by taking “technological innovation” as its core driving force and always focusing on customer needs in research and development. On the one hand, regarding successfully delivered products, the team continuously optimises and iteratively upgrades key valves used in special or harsh operating conditions based on the specific needs of different customers. On the other hand, since its inception, Boteli has consistently increased its R&D investment, accumulating a significant number of core technology patents for new products. At present, Boteli continues to innovate in upstream products such as API 6A series and deep-sea valve API 6DSS products, as well as in cryogenic valves for special operating conditions like liquid hydrogen and liquid helium. As a result, whenever new market demands or trends emerge, Boteli can always respond calmly, standing out with innovative and reliable products and winning widespread recognition and favour from customers.
Over decades of development, Boteli has developed a rich product line, with particularly outstanding performance in the field of cryogenic valves.
In the R&D process of cryogenic valve-related technologies, unique technical capabilities such as ultra-low-temperature cryogenic technology, welding technology and multi-layer sealing technology are core elements ensuring valve sealing reliability and flexible opening and closing. To meet the performance requirements of cryogenic valves, these technologies are indispensable. Naturally, the R&D process has not been smooth sailing, with technical difficulties mainly concentrated in material selection, seal design and processing and assembly processes. Seal design, in particular, has been the biggest “challenge”, encompassing welding and multi-layer sealing technologies.
Faced with such severe technical challenges, Boteli’s R&D team has overcome difficulties one by one with profound professional knowledge and an unwavering spirit of innovation. The team conducted an in-depth analysis of the impact of thermodynamic effects and gas compressibility on the saturated vapour pressure of ultra-low-temperature media, corrected the mass transfer between gas and liquid phases in ultra-low-temperature fluids, and successfully established a numerical calculation method for ultra-low-temperature phase-change flow based on thermodynamics and compressibility effects. Meanwhile, an analytical-non-analytical coupled scale-adaptive low-temperature cavitation model was constructed, enabling accurate identification of cross-scale cavitation bubbles in ultra-low-temperature valves.
Furthermore, the team comprehensively considered the bidirectional coupling effects of cavitation flow fields, heat transfer and walls, established a flow-thermal-solid coupling calculation method for cryogenic valves and deeply analysed the influence laws of different flow and structural parameters, ultimately obtaining the optimal structural parameters for seal design.
In terms of material selection, the team carefully selected key sealing materials, designed a multi-layer sealing structure, and combined welded metal sealing surfaces with hardening treatments to form a final combined leak-suppression sealing technology.
For valves operating under extreme service conditions, such as liquid helium valves at -269°C, Boteli has demonstrated exceptional technological innovation capabilities. A unique welding technology is employed to weld a vacuum jacket on the exterior of the valve, while a non-metallic material with an extremely low thermal conductivity is used internally to replace metal, effectively reducing heat leakage and thermal conduction, ensuring reliable valve operation under extreme service conditions. Through this series of technological breakthroughs and innovative practices, Boteli has continuously scaled new heights in the field of cryogenic valves, achieving outstanding performance in numerous projects worldwide, including LNG, offshore engineering, hydrogen energy and mining.
To further enhance product quality, Boteli makes good use of intelligent system tools—planning to integrate various modules of the intelligent manufacturing system into a highly unified data flow industrial internet platform. This move will help Boteli achieve rapid and precise decision-making, significantly improving production efficiency by reducing manual intervention, lowering communication costs, adjusting production parameters in real-time and optimising inventory management. Meanwhile, thanks to the high consistency of the data flow, Boteli can accurately trace every link that may affect product quality, such as raw material sources, production process parameters and inspection results, and quickly take targeted corrective measures, thereby establishing an internal closed-loop system for quality management.
Boteli’s Intelligent Valve R&D Focus:
- Mechanical Integration: Modular sensor design to minimize leaks, ensuring data accuracy without compromising valve performance.
- Precision & Control: Millisecond response + micron-level positioning under complex conditions; compensate for nonlinearities (friction, dead zones).
- Extreme Environment Resilience: Materials/designs for high/low temps, corrosion and deep-sea pressures.
- Multi-Sensor Fusion: Integrate pressure, flow, vibration and leak sensors; resolve signal interference and redundant data. Predict faults early via real-time parameter analysis.
- Energy-Efficient Self-Powering: Solar/wind-powered for remote valves; low-power drives to balance torque and durability.
Service enhancement: Transition from “Product Delivery” to “Value Co-Creation”
With unwavering commitment to product quality, performance and stringent quality control, Boteli has earned broad market recognition and strong trust. However, its excellence extends beyond this—while maintaining superior quality, it stands out with efficient product delivery and full-lifecycle services, forging a unique brand strength.
Boteli operates its own foundry and forging company, mastering in-house manufacturing of core components and establishing a rigorous, efficient quality control system to precisely manage delivery timelines. Leveraging years of industry experience, it actively builds regional supply chain platforms to enhance cross-industry collaboration, continuously optimising delivery capabilities to fully meet customer needs.
As it expands its user base and advances its “high-end positioning” strategy, Boteli is no longer satisfied with merely supplying products; instead, it aims to forge long-term, interactive partnerships with clients, co-creating and sharing value.
As a project-driven valve supplier, Boteli recognises the critical importance of customisation. With expanding applications, customer demands are increasingly diverse. Beyond conventional ball, butterfly and gate valves, Boteli focuses on valves for severe conditions. To meet evolving needs, it must continuously strengthen its customisation capabilities. However, Boteli’s goal is not just to deliver product solutions but to provide the “most suitable” ones. For Boteli, solving problems is just the starting point; the real aim is to balance performance, cost and efficiency to propose optimal solutions. By leveraging rich project experience and robust hardware capabilities, Boteli seamlessly integrates standardisation and customisation, meeting unique customer needs while creating additional value.
Effectively combining standardisation and customisation is a challenge all valve companies face. While customisation is often seen as more demanding, a company’s internal standardisation level significantly impacts its ability to meet special requirements. When non-standard dimensions, processes or materials are requested, the most efficient approach is to adjust solutions based on standardised frameworks. Boteli’s team firmly believes that solutions for special requirements should be built on a solid foundation of standardised expertise. With deep reserves in standardised design, process routes and material specifications, Boteli ensures not only effective problem-solving but also maintains efficient production and service workflows while addressing diverse, specialised customer needs, truly integrating customisation into holistic solutions.
Boteli’s customisation capabilities extend beyond products to encompass comprehensive pre-sales, in-sales and after-sales solutions.
