Breese to carry Severn’s butterfly valve strategy

Global engineering specialist Severn Glocon Group has appointed Mark Breese to head up its butterfly valve product development strategy.

As Group Product Development Manager for the Severn – Leeds Valve division, Breese’s objective is to marry the Leeds Valve heritage in bespoke butterfly valve manufacture with the Group’s intelligence-led engineering ethos. He is tasked with masterminding a product strategy which fits market demand and firmly positions the Group as a technical authority in butterfly valves.

The appointment swiftly follows Severn Glocon Group’s acquisition of Leeds Valve, formerly owned by Wärtsilä.

Breese has held senior sales, marketing and product development roles with industry leaders in the UK and the US. He has a strong track record in establishing the structure required to bring corporate visions to fruition, from large capital projects to bespoke application solutions.

Using the Leeds Valve acquisition as a platform to further develop overall Group production capabilities, Breese will oversee technical development of a competitively priced butterfly product range. He will work in close collaboration with Technical Director George Burns, who joined from Leeds Valve. Burns has a well-established pedigree in the design of specialist butterfly valves, including those for severe service applications.

“My aim is to ensure we develop a cohesive butterfly valve offering that meets the exacting standards people expect from Severn Glocon Group,” Breese explains. “It comes down to product integrity, quality and above all value. We understand what the market needs and we have the in-house expertise to deliver it.”
