Broadspectrum wins new water contract in Queensland

Broadspectrum has signed a new water contract with long-term client Queensland Urban Utilities. The contract will renew and deliver upgrade works to the Bundamba Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Ipswich, Queensland, which has been fully operational since June 2008.

The Bundamba STP contract comes in addition to Broadspectrum’s existing design and construction contract with Queensland Urban Utilities to deliver upgrades to the sewerage system for the towns of Lowood and Fernvale in Somerset, north-west of Brisbane. The upgrades began in June 2018 and are expected to be completed by late 2019. Both the Bundamba STP and the Lowood-Fernvale upgrades are being delivered with the engineering design support of Jacobs, a global leader in the professional services sector, delivering solutions for a more connected, sustainable world.

The Bundamba STP upgrades commenced in February 2019 and are due for completion by mid-2020.

Broadspectrum’s joint venture with Downer Utilities, Utilita Water Solutions, is also responsible for the maintenance of the Bundamba STP as part of the USD 170M contract to maintain Queensland Urban Utilities water and wastewater assets.
