Bruce Power and Velan Inc. Sign $50M Valve Supply and Service Agreement

Bruce Power has entered a significant $50-million alliance agreement with Velan Inc. to supply valves and provide related services over the next decade. This strategic partnership could potentially grow to $100 million as new projects and options are confirmed. Velan, a Canadian leader in valve manufacturing, will support Bruce Power’s life-extension projects and asset management to ensure the continued operation of its facilities until at least 2064.

David Furr, Bruce Power’s Vice-President of Supply Chain, emphasized the agreement’s role in sustaining clean, reliable energy production for Ontario, highlighting its benefits for material and capacity planning as well as cost management. The Life-Extension Program, a cornerstone of Ontario’s largest clean-energy initiative, drives substantial economic activity and job creation in Canada, underlining the significance of this collaboration.

Laurent Pefferkorn, Velan’s Executive Vice-President of Sales, lauded the agreement as a milestone in Velan’s nuclear power growth strategy. He noted the longstanding successful partnership between Velan and Bruce Power, which this latest agreement further cements. This partnership not only supports Ontario’s energy needs but also provides Velan with the stability to plan future investments.
