Stephanie Gorgs reports...
On October 1 2013, Metso celebrated 90 years of success for its Mapag product brand of valves at the Metso Valve Technology Center in Horgau, Germany.
On arrival, guests were invited to tour the factory (incidentally, one of the largest employers in the region) and see for themselves how the Mapag butterfly valves are engineered and built.
Valve World was also invited to attend, and took the opportunity to speak to many of the Metso representatives (please see the video interviews below).
A key message we heard throughout the day was just how much customers value the Mapag products. These valves are, we were told, often used in challenging industrial applications around the globe thanks to their proven reliability and low life cycle costs.
Also interesting to see was the installed refrigeration technology. This enables valves to be tested to ensure they comply with both cryogenic and thermal shock tests that meet the latest international standards.
The Open Day was followed by an evening reception at a local hotel, featuring a stylish dinner and superb entertainment.
