CLIMAX introduces new on-site AutoClad solution

CLIMAX Portable Machining and Welding Systems has announced the release of AC5000 AutoClad, the latest in their line of on-site cladding machines designed to automate the internal cladding of small diameter nozzles and pipes. With a design that rotates the work piece around its torch, it easily allows manufacturers of processing equipment to get the right weld in the right place during welding jobs.

“This tool came out of conversations with our customers who were looking for an all-in-one device that could automate the cladding process, rotating the work piece as opposed to the welding torch,” said Fitz Acheson, CLIMAX Market Segment Engineer. “Our engineering and design teams accepted that challenge and developed something that would take AutoClad solutions to the next level.”

A water-cooled torch keeps torch temperatures under control, allowing the AC5000 AutoClad to complete long weld times, maximizing productivity and increasing the life of consumables. With infinitely adjustable step and rotation speed, the AC5000 AutoClad produces the highest quality welds with difficult-to weld materials such as Nickel Alloys, (Inconel™,Monel™, Hastelloy™) and Stainless Steels.

The AC5000 AutoClad can be configured as a complete, all-in-one machine or customized to meet customers’ needs with its modular design. Weld diameters as small as 30.5mm for MIG, and 50.8mm for TIG, and up to 609.6mm deep. And with over 76.2mm of bore size, reach increases to 1219.2 mm on certain models.

A centralized control system keeps the operator safely away from harmful fumes, such as hexavalent chromium, during the overlay of stainless steel.
