Danfoss launches a new tight oil-free shut-off ball valve

Danfoss is expanding its EXO – Extended Oil-Free program with the launch of the OFB range, a newly developed tight oil-free shut-off ball valve engineered for oil-free chillers and heat pumps featuring Turbocor® compressors. As a service valve and anti-refrigerant liquid migration valve (when motorized) used on the suction side, OFB efficiently brings a new level of protection to oil-free systems—making it particularly valuable when installed in demanding applications such as data centers and advanced HVAC installations.

Designed to elevate suction-side reliability, the OFB introduces a Three-in-One functional design that combines a smooth suction-cone transition, a tight shut-off isolation valve, and full motorization capability. The smooth suction-cone secures excellent inlet flow quality with negligible pressure drop, while the tight motorized ball valve prevents refrigerant migration — during standstill and start-up conditions, and ensures safe service for the system.

The new OFB series is built as a fully modular range compatible with all Danfoss Turbocor® TGx and TTx compressors. With 12 inlet flange options (3”, 4”, and 5”), the valve fits new and existing systems with ease and supports multiple global connection standards, including ANSI, ASTM, DIN, and EN. Its robust design withstands operating temperatures from -40 °C to +100 °C, ensuring reliable performance across diverse climates and applications.

OFB is the latest innovation added to the Danfoss oil-free extended program. With the introduction of the new OFC models, the release of fast responding PTS staging valves, Danfoss raises the bar to new reliability and energy efficiency levels, which are key to data centers, where oil-free technology is broadly deployed.
