Danfoss Power Solutions has introduced CAN 2 Current (C2C), a compact solenoid-mounted microcontroller designed for use with Danfoss cartridge valves, hydraulic integrated circuits (HICs), hybrid PVG/HIC valves, and open-circuit pumps. C2C connects the valve, HIC, or pump to the controller area network (CAN) bus, enabling precise actuation and simple diagnostics.
The high-performance device delivers repeatable, consistent control and communicates via CAN bus protocols to provide closed-loop current control on one or two outputs. C2C is compatible with on/off and proportional solenoids and is available as a single- or dual-channel device. The single-channel version commands one coil, while the dual-channel version can sequentially control two coils. It supports ISOBUS and SAE J1939 communication protocols.
C2C maximizes energy efficiency through peak-and-hold control technology, reducing current during the hold phase to only what is needed to maintain solenoid position. For extended-hold functions, such as clamping, energy consumption can be reduced by up to 70%, minimizing cooling requirements and potentially reducing battery capacity in battery-electric machinery.
The compact, robust design ensures durability and space efficiency. Resin-potted construction protects against dust, dirt, shock, and vibration, while the IP67 ingress protection rating ensures reliable operation in harsh off-highway environments.
