Duke expands in Brazil

US company Duke Energy plans to expand its power generation operations in Brazil in order to capitalise on the country’s growing power needs. Duke Energy International is already constructing new power facilities, is planning yet further greenfield operations and would also consider buying assets as Brazil’s power industry is privatised. Construction on two 160mw peaking plants will start in the second quarter.
