Duke/Fluor Daniel to build three plants

Duke/Fluor Daniel (D/FD) has been awarded contracts by Duke Energy North America (DENA) to perform engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for three natural gas-fired,
combined-cycle, merchant power generation facilities with a combined capacity of 2420mw. The three projects are: the 600mw Luna Energy Facility in Luna County NM; the 620mw Grays Harbor Energy Facility in Grays Harbor County, Washingtom; and the 1200mw Moapa Energy facility in Clark County, Nevada. A total of eight General Electric-7FA combustion turbines will be used in the three projects, which are targeted for commercial operation in summer 2003. These three power plants will generate enough electricity to serve two and a half million homes in the western United States. The combined value of the three projects is more than USD 1.2 billion. The value of the D/FD contract was not disclosed.
