Electrolysis plant in China

Krupp Uhde, of Dortmund, Germany, has won a contract from CMC Prospects Import and Export Company, Beijing, for the supplies and services to build a hydrochloric acid diaphragm electrolysis plant for the customer Hebei Cangzhou Dahua TDI Co. Ltd., in Cangzhou, Hebei province. Krupp Uhde will provide the basic engineering for the complete plant, supply the electrolysers and other special equipment and supervise the commissioning of the plant. The customer part will carry out the detail engineering, provide the other equipment and assume responsibility for the construction work and commissioning. The contract will be worth about DEM 17 million to Krupp Uhde. The plant is scheduled to start operation 24 months after entry into effect of the contract. Using Bayer AG’s technology the plant will process 20,000 tonnes per year of hydrochloric acid to chlorine and hydrogen. These intermediates will be used for the production of plastics.
