Emergency shut-off valves

The AMOT Controls 4261/4262 range of diesel engine emergency intake air shut-off valves has been extended up to a 10” size, allowing the company’s SpeedTrap engine runaway prevention system to protect the latest larger engine designs. This system avoids the threat of damage or explosion resulting from a diesel engine continuing to run on hydrocarbon vapours or other combustible matter even after its primary fuel source has been removed. Used either stand-alone or in a complete shutdown system, the valve’s O-ring seal ensures gas-tight closure, guaranteeing positive shut-down even in the presence of significant levels of combustible vapours as might be found on offshore applications. The new design also includes solid-state valve position sensing and control interfaces providing improved reliability and easier interfacing to engine management systems. Manual or automatic systems are offered with a choice of electric actuation or pneumatic actuation for hazardous area applications and hydro-mechanical actuation for use on engines without electricity or air supply.
