Emerson Process Management announced that it has received a contract to supply 42 gas/hydraulic valve actuator packages for the Shurtan Booster Compressor Station project in Uzbekistan. The packages include Series 3, 6 and 7 scotch-yoke actuators mounted on MSA ball valves ranging from 6 to 36 inch diameters and used on the station’s suction, discharge and blowdown valves. The actuators and control packages were engineered and manufactured in-house at the Bettis facility in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Various control systems were supplied for normal open/close service, plus fail-open and fail-close Emergency Shutdown requirements. The contract involved a total international effort. In addition to the Canadian-manufactured actuators and controls, engineering for the project was by Bateman Engineering in Israel. The MSA valves were manufactured in the Czech Republic and were sold through Motorque, a Bettis agent in that country. The units are expected to ship by May 2002.
