Ergonomic modification assemblies

Transmark Fcx recognizes that many long-term health problems can be caused by poor design in the workplace which causes employees to place undue strain on their bodies. Protection is given for operators of machinery and equipment so that they can perform their jobs with negligible risk of injury or harm and the same should be true for operators of manual valves, as when badly sited or their hand wheels are above or below optimum operating height they can be literally a pain. Fortunately site risk assessments and safety guideline audits identify valves which have operational risk and this is where Transmark Fcx can assist in improving working conditions and, in most cases, also avoiding the high costs associated with complete valve replacement. Once Transmark Fcx have an outline of the potential problem they will arrange a site survey by one of their experienced valve engineers to establish whether extensions spindles, offset shafts, expansion couplings or gearboxes are necessary to bring the operators to a safe and recommended position. In the majority of cases any modification work needed can be surveyed, measured and designed as a retrofit kit, and provided welding or hot work are unnecessary, the assembly can be fitted on site without need for valve removal, usually within a few weeks of the initial survey. When the need for welding/ hotwork, extremely complex assembly, or the age of equipment prevents retrofitting, Transmark Fcx’s large inventory comes into play. A direct replacement valve will be provided with all necessary modifications being carried out within the company’s extensive workshop facilities prior to dispatch.
