A shipment of non-slam check valves was made recently by Europa Valveto a Natural Gas Compressor station in North America.
In a project such as this, it is typically specified that there will be 30” Class 600 Non Slam Check Valves on discharge of the compressor and then smaller 12” or 16” check valves used on a recycle loop to allow soft start-up of the compressor.
The axial non slam check valve is the optimum check valve for critical applications as it gives the extremely fast shut off required to protect the compressor. This combined with the aerodynamic design allows for very low pressure drops.
