FCx wins Bayu-Undan project

FCx has secured a major order from the Phillips Petroleum Company for the massive Bayu-Undan Gas Recycle Project North West of Darwin, Australia. The Bayu-Undan development involves two phased developments of the field’s natural gas and gas liquids resources. An initial expenditure of approximately USD 1.4 billion on the liquids stripping and lean gas recycle phase makes it the largest investment to date in the Timor Sea. The field life is estimated to be 25 years with production planned to commence in late 2003. The order, secured by FCx Pegler Beacon Australia, is for the supply of triple eccentric metal seated valves, FCx Orton’s MV Series. A combination of wafer and lugged bodies in aluminum bronze and carbon steel, fitted with manual, electric and pneumatic actuators will be supplied. Most of the valves will be used to control seawater, cooling water and firewater.
