Working in partnership, three FCx companies – FCx Truflo Marine Valves and sister companies FCx Thompson Valves and FCx GHR – have won three major new contracts worth more than GBP 1 million to supply specialist marine valve packages. The companies will supply packages not only for the next generation of South African frigates and Turkish mine hunting ships, but also for an innovative rescue system for submarines. The orders have come from Blohm and Voss for South African Navy frigates, from A & R and Lurssen for new Turkish mine hunter vessels and from Astrium-Erno for its innovative RESUS rescue system for submarines. The specialist packages will consist of sophisticated compressed air reducing stations used for GT-Start-Systems, diesel engines, bottle-heads, working air, torpedo air and other systems. Valve packages will also be used on the new RESUS rescue system, a complex item used to refloat sunken submarines to the surface. It has proved very successful during the last ten years and increasingly countries are specifying submarines fitted with the unique system.
