Finnish CHP commission successes for actuators

As part of AUMA’s growing international portfolio of power industry installations, two Finnish Combined Heat and Power (CHP) commissions are reported as successfully operating with electric actuators supplied by the company. Over 70 actuators were installed at Kuopion Energia in 2011 and over 150 devices were supplied in the following year to the Lahti Energia Kymijärvi II (KYVO2) plant.

Other Finnish reference sites, supported locally by AUMA Finland OY, include Helsingin Energia’s commission of over 150 new generation AUMA actuators to aid valve automation at the Vuosaaren A-voimalaitos power plant.

The Lahti Energia CHP project, the world’s first plant to run on solid recovered fuel, has a capacity for electricity generation of 50 MW and district heating production capacity of 90 MW. AUMA SA devices, with AC integrated controls, were selected to meet the plant’s actuation requirements. Compatible with the scheme’s existing devices, the actuators support the Profibus DP V1 communication protocol used by the plant’s control system. Kuopion Energia HPN3, with a 46 MW electricity power generation capability and district heating capacity of 80 MW, also deploys AUMA SA actuators with Profibus DP V1 interfaces.
