Scotland-based flexible pipe technologies provider Flexlife has received a one year contract extension from Apache North Sea.
As part of the contract, worth £5m per annum, Flexlife will provide the on-going integrity management of all the subsea infrastructure and pipeline on Forties and Beryl. Flexlife currently has a team of 30 subsea staff, based in Aberdeen and Newcastle, for the Apache North Sea work and could increase that number during in 2014.
The company was originally awarded a three-year contract worth £13m by Apache, with a CAPEX value in excess of £130m. As part of the original deal, Flexlife provided operational pipeline support on Apache North Sea’s assets and project management of major new subsea developments in compliance with UKCS legislation. Flexlife CEO Ciaran O’Donnell said that the company, which has already provided three years of subsea integrity and project management for Apache, is happy with the additional one year contract extension.
Apache Projects group manager Mark Richardson said: “The subsea project management support provided by Flexlife to Apache has been extremely successful. As a result of Flexlife being completely aligned with our objectives, their work has increased as our subsea development opportunities have expanded.” At a contract value of about £100m, Flexlife has also completed the project management work on Apache North Sea’s Bacchus subsea field development, which is now producing in excess of 10,000 bpd.
Flexlife has also received fabrication work of two 200t subsea isolation valves (SSIVs) at Invergordon. The company is expected to tender for a construction support vessel (CSV) and a diving support vessel (DSV) for installation scheduled for the middle of 2013.
