Flowserve books valve order

Flowserve Corp. has booked a multi-million dollar order from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. Ltd (KHNP) for main steam and main feedwater isolation valves. The valves will be used at KHNP’s Shin-Kori 3 and 4 nuclear plant’s Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs), which are currently under construction and scheduled for commercial operation in 2013 and 2014, respectively. Shin-Kori 3 and 4 represent the first two reactors built to KHNP’s new APR-1400 reactor design. PWR nuclear power technology involves heating de-mineralized water in the reactor core. This hot, high-pressure water is pumped through a steam generator to produce a continuous supply of steam for driving electricity generating turbines. The cooled demineralized water then returns to the reactor core in a continuous cycle.
