Flowserve Corporation has recently announced plans to expand its manufacturing facility in Raleigh, N.C., to increase capacity and improve operational efficiency. The latest nuclear plant designs incorporate larger valves, weighing as much as 30,390kg and standing more than 6.1m tall. Flowserve will add approximately 16,000sq/ft of manufacturing space to the existing facility to allow for the installation of new machine tools to more efficiently manufacture large valve components while increasing space for inspection, assembly and test. The Flowserve Raleigh facility is ASME N-stamp certified for production of nuclear valves. Groundbreaking is scheduled to take place in December 2010, with completion of construction planned for the fall of 2011.
