BVZ Power Partners-Riverside (San Antonio, Texas) has awarded Foxboro, a unit of Invensys Process Systems, with a major automation contract for the RS Cogen, LLC Riverside co-generation plant in Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA. When completed in late 2002, the natural-gas-fired combined-cycle plant will generate 425mw of electricity plus process steam. The plant will utilise two Siemens-Westinghouse 501F combustion turbines with Nooter Eriksen heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) and one Alstom Power steam turbine generator. Foxboro’s scope of supply includes a fully applied I/A Series control and data acquisition system, intelligent field instrumentation, and interfaces to a variety of third-party subsystems. RS Cogen is a 50/50 joint venture of PPG Industries (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) and Entergy Wholesale Operations, the non-utility power development, marketing, and trading business unit of Entergy Corp.
