Full valve service on FPSO saves time and money

A full recertification service on all safety and relief valves has brought significant time and cost savings for PGS Production on the Banff FPSO. The valve “healthcare package,” provided by Furmanite, successfully avoids the usual drawn out and complex process of valve recertification for the operator. On-site bench testing, off-site conventional testing and the very latest on-line Trevitest techniques, are all handled as a full package, including project management. Any necessary repairs are also carried out by Furmanite as part of the package, either off-site, or on-site using the mobile workshop. Certification and valve test requirements were assessed by Furmanite working from the customer’s offices in Aberdeen. From this data a full schedule of testing and repairs was set up.Furmanite’s Trevitest system has been used to save time and money by testing valves on-line at normal operating pressures and temperatures. The Trevitest testing was carried out without shutdown of the FPSO and used to identify healthy valves as well as indicating where repairs were needed.
