GE selected as a strategic global supplier by shell

GE Power Conversion has been awarded an Enterprise Framework Agreement by Shell. Making GE Power Conversion Shell’s strategic supplier for high-speed systems, including transformers, converters, and high-speed motors.
This agreement covers the supply and services of all high-speed equipment – from 500 to 20,000 kW and from 4,000 to 15,000 rpm – to be installed within Shell entities worldwide for the next five years, with an option for a three-year extension. The agreement applies to all industrial processes and will then support Shell in their conversion towards electrical drive solutions for their pump and compressor applications. GE Power Conversion’s high-speed offerings include a wide range of power and speed, covering most of the needs of Shell applications when it comes to replacing gas or steam turbines.
“To reach our goal of becoming a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050, in step with society, we need to invest in technology that helps us to accelerate our journey in achieving this goal,” says Michael Joinson, Global Discipline Head-Instrumentation, Control, and Electrical, of Shell Global Solutions International BV. “Our supply chain is an important enabler and working closely with companies such as GE Power Conversion, is very important. GE Power Conversion can provide us with solutions that align to our own efforts of addressing the current energy challenges.”
“We are delighted to have been chosen by Shell as their partner in their electrification transition process. This agreement is a strong recognition of our teams’ work to offer efficient and sustainable solutions,” said Philippe Piron, CEO, GE Power Conversion. “With more than 150 high-speed systems references worldwide, 4.5 million operation hours accumulated, and 15 patents on high-speed technologies, we are positioned to make our customer benefit from a deep expertise and a solid experience.”
