Rotork Gears has launched a new range of ruggedly designed bevel gearboxes that have been specifically developed for the manual operation of penstocks, gate valves, globe valves and other multi-turn valve designs. Designated the Exeeco HOB (hand-operated bevel) range, the gearboxes are manufactured with a fully enclosed cast iron gearcase and grease filled for a maintenance-free life. A range of four HOB model sizes has been developed in response to input from valve makers, to offer the robustness traditionally associated with Exeeco gearboxes and an attractively competitive cost. All models feature a removable steel or aluminium bronze output sleeve for convenient machining to suit screwed or keyed valve stems with diameters up to 73mm. Standard HOB gearboxes are suitable for valves in the operating torque range of 200 to 1355 Nm, within an ambient temperature range of –40 to +120°C. Optional extras include position indicators, stainless steel input shafts – increasing environmental protection to temporarily submersible IP68 from the standard watertight IP67 – and special coatings for aggressive environments.
