Heerema Fabrication Group has picked up two jacket fabrication contracts for Nexen’s Golden Eagle development project. The Netherlands-based engineering and fabrication outfit will build the two 130m, 6000tn projects “in parallel” in its Vlissingen yard. Each will have a “footprint” of 45m by 45m.
Construction is expected to start in February 2012, with the structures expected to be ready to ship out to the UK North Sea exploration area in the second quarter of 2013.
