Flow control specialist Bio-Chem Valve has developed a range of valves for precision gradient mixing and diverting applications. The miniature, manifold mounted solenoid valves are available in the UK and Europe from Omnifit Ltd. They simulate a constant flow by rapid cycling, and dispense gradients from multiple fluid streams in precise, repeatable volumes. The valves feature an armature, which drives the valve faster with less energy. Every actuator is individually set to ensure equal flow rates at the same pressure. The valves have an response time of 2 milliseconds when used with Bio-Chem Valve’s CoolCube™ control module, making them suitable for gradient applications. Through rapid cycling of the solenoid the valves can be used to provide modulating flow rates at constant pressures. The valves, which have minimal dead volume, are offered in PTFE, PEEK™ and PPS. Diaphragm materials are offered in PTFE, EPDM, Viton® and Perfluoroelastomer.
