Grontmij to renew gas infrastructure for Gasunie

Grontmij, a listed consulting & engineering company with a strong European presence, has been appointed by Gasunie to deliver technical engineering services to renew the gas infrastructure in the Netherlands. The total value of the five-year framework contract for Grontmij is expected to be between EUR 15M and EUR 20M.

Throughout the Netherlands, parts of the regional gas distribution network are approaching the end of their technical lifecycle. In the coming years, Gasunie will renew the network and make it future-proof. This involves the adaptation of 2,800 valve schedules, 1,000 gas-receiving stations and 80 measuring and control stations. One of the challenges is to ensure the continuity of gas distribution during maintenance.

Gasunie’s five-year framework contract is divided into seven components, of which three have been awarded exclusively to Grontmij and one to Grontmij in collaboration with other parties. Gasunie selected Grontmij for the best combination of quality and price. Having worked with Gasunie for over 40 years, Grontmij has extensive knowledge of and experience with Gasunie’s procedures and conditions. Lucas Lambers, engineering manager at Gasunie: ‘It is important for Gasunie to have professional engineering partners with high quality standards and professional knowledge management systems. Grontmij is such a partner.’
