According to a recent press release, the advanced surface coating company,Hardide Coatings,has been selected by EDF Energy to provide coatings that will extend the life of the 15 MW boiler feed pump system valves at the Hinkley Point B nuclear power plant in Somerset, UK.
Graham Young, an engineer with EDF Energy states that “Spare valve cover guide sleeves have also been ordered and these will be deployed onto the other unit in the near future,” He added that they are currently also evaluating Hardide for other applications within EDF Energy.
Hardide Coatings CEO Phil Kirkham annonced in a statement that the company too is looking forward to developing a long and productive working relationship.
