High pressure steam valve contract

Sempell AG, a part of Tyco Flow Control, has been awarded a USD 22 million contract from RWE for high pressure steam valves on their lignite power plant projects. The project will see Sempell supply practically all control and isolating valves for the high pressure turbine, boiler and plant balance systems for the RWE BOA 2 and 3 initiative. As part of a comprehensive package for the power generation sector, Sempell was able to offer custom-made valve know-how to withstand the extremely high temperatures and pressures required to achieve maximum efficiency from lignite. To meet the necessary design criteria and guarantee future reliability in this critical application Sempell will be employing a new high alloy steel for the first time. The project will involve working in close cooperation with German forgings and pipe manufacturers to qualify and produce this material.
