His Highness Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, United Arab Emirates, officially inaugurated the 17th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) on 10th November.
The event is held under the patronage of His Highness and supported by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the Ministry of Energy and the Abu Dhabi Chamber.
This year’s theme is ‘Challenges and Opportunities for the Next 30 Years’.
During the inauguration, H.H. Sheikh Hazza toured the show floor in ADIPEC’s largest exhibition and conference to date. Sixteen National Oil Companies (NOCs) and 17 International Oil Companies (IOCs) are attending – the highest NOC and IOC participation in the event’s history, and the event includes 20 international country pavilions with the participation of the world’s major oil producers, including the US, China, Canada, and Mexico.
The Conference Programme, organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, features more than 600 speakers from 111 organisations, with Executive Panels and Plenary Sessions, 81 technical sessions, 4 academic sessions, 3 special IT sessions, and industry breakfasts and luncheons.
Special features include Young ADIPEC, a programme designed to motivate students to pursue a career path in the energy sector, and a VIP Programme, a series of exclusive briefings dedicated to members of the Middle East Petroleum Club and senior industry representatives that look at some of the impending issues in the sector.
During his opening address to some of the world’s most important energy leaders, H.E. Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy, UAE, said: “We are so proud of the success of ADIPEC in the last three decades; especially this year, as it becomes probably the world’s largest oil and gas conference gathering, and the second largest exhibition. The increasing number of participants indicate the importance of the event in linking the different oil and gas industry stakeholders together to discuss and exhibit the solutions to the challenges we face.”
