HMEL partners with Emerson and AVEVA

HPCL-Mittal Energy (HMEL) has partnered with automation firms, Emerson and AVEVA during India Energy Week 2025 in New Delhi. Two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) have been signed, with the objective of enhancing process efficiency, safety, and sustainability in operations.

It would advance HMEL’s digital technology capabilities across its refinery and petrochemical units by integrating cutting-edge technologies like A), advanced analytics, and real-time optimisers. The MoU with AVEVA focuses on integrating AI and digitalisation solutions to optimise operations in refining and petrochemical processing. The collaboration will enhance the energy efficiency, sustainability, and resource utilisation.

Plans include establishing a centre of excellence for analytics-driven refinery transformation and co-innovation initiatives to ensure long-term success. HMEL, a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) and Mittal Energy Investment, operates the Guru Gobind Singh Refinery in Bathinda, Punjab—one of India’s most modern integrated refinery-petrochemical complexes. The facility has an 11.3 MTPA crude oil refining capacity and houses advanced multi-feed cracker units and polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plants.
