India: thermal power projects

The Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) is aiming to set up 3 thermal power projects with a total generating capacity of 5000MW. The board was working on the details of the projects in consultation with the state government. Conceived as a public private partnership venture, the proposal included a 2000MW Greenfield power project on lands owned by Patratu Thermal Power Station near Ranchi, another 1000MW in a nearby location and a third one of 2000MW capacity be at Dumka. The state government recently granted some coal blocks to JSEB in Latehar district for running the plants.
