Kraken Field FPSO Major Project Win

To be fitted to 2” to 24” Class 150 to 2500 ball valves, Paladon Systems will be supplying 91 pneumatic double-acting and spring-return scotch-yoke valve actuators and control systems. The fully stainless steel control systems will provide remote electric open/close valve control and smart valve positioning via 4-20m positioners using HART communications.

Operated and owned by EnQuest (60%), Cairn Energy (25%) and First Oil (15%), the Kraken field is located approximately 400km north east of Aberdeen in 120m water depth and is anticipated to hold 140 million barrels of heavy oil with a production life of up to 25 years. Currently in construction in Singapore, the Kraken FPSO will be one of the largest vessels ever built for the North Sea. Using a converted Surzmax ice-class tanker, the FPSO will be able to store 600,000 barrels of heavy oil being supplied from 16 risers. Find out more about FPSO vessels.
