Kvaerner signs contract

Kvaerner has signed a contract with Statoil on behalf of Vestprocess DA, for the expansion of the Vestprocess (VP) unit at Statoil’s refinery in Mongstad, Norway. The objective of the project is to almost double the capacity of the existing VP unit to a new design capacity of approximately 335 t/h. The existing VP unit processes streams from Statoil’s Mongstad refinery and condensate from the Oseberg and Troll fields – which are separated and routed via Kollsnes and Sture to Mongstad. In addition to the existing streams, the upgraded VP unit will also be designed for processing the condensate from the Kvitebjørn and Visund fields, and routed through Kollsnes. Kvaerner has been awarded the basic engineering phase for this revamp project with the option to continue with the implementation of the project (EPC phase) in early 2003 upon sanctioning of the project. The upgraded facility will be in operation after the summer shutdown in 2004.
