Lee Products has introduced a reduced-diameter high-pressure solenoid valve that is suitable for use in the design of completion tools for oil wells where all the components must be incorporated within the tool space envelope.
The solenoid valve (maximum outside diameter of 14mm) is a single-coil, three-way, normally closed device that is capable of operating up to 5000psid at a maximum voltage of 32VDC and typically flowing 0.12USGPM at 200psid.
It features Multiseal technology, which is said to simplify the port layout and allow porting flexibility 360º around the seal without the need for O-rings or anti-extrusion rings.
Combination of a reduced outside diameter with largest possible inside diameter enables operators to use a wider range of intervention tools, as well as increasing the flow rate of oil being produced.
Multiseal results in space savings, reduced machining costs and improved reliability compared with traditional sealing methods, according to Lee Products. The valve could be designed as a normally open device. To maintain the same power delivered by the coil, the length of the coil has been increased to 68mm.
