Higher working pressures and longer life are two of the major design enhancements on the new Amot 4418F turbine fuel shut-off valve, which also functions as an air start for diesel engines, a fuel gas vent and an on/off control, all with under 100ms closing. Other new benefits include reduced valve noise due to contoured internal flow paths, increased corrosion resistance with an Inconel X750 return spring, improved spool balance, sour gas capability and more competitive cost. These two-way vented or unvented and flanged or threaded valves for 1, 1.5 and 2in pipes have high-flow capacity and a minimal leak design. The longer life has been achieved by using PTFE spool seals testing leak tight (class 6) after 45,000 cycles.
Maximum working pressure at 38C has been increased to 100bar on the ANSI Class 600 RF flanged versions, 50bar on Class 300 flanged models and 41bar on NPT versions. All had a previous limit of 27bar, and the large increases suit new high-pressure fuel systems while expanding application capability. Open/close indication and stainless steel internals are options and a dual fuel back-pressure version is available. Vented versions now also offer increased spool strength plus simpler assembly and field replacement of spool seals.
