Malbranque receives valve order

Malbranque SAS, a France-based 100% subsidiary of Stavanger-based Valco Group, has received a strategic order worth EUR 2 million for valves to be delivered to Alstom for the Phase III of the huge Shoaiba project, on the Red Sea Coast of Saudi Arabia. The Shoaiba power plant is the largest steam power plant in the Gulf region, and is referred to as “The Giant of the Gulf”. The current facility, which consists of 11 power units of 400MW each (Shoaiba Stages I and II, completed in 2003 and 2007 respectively), is now being augmented by a further 3 x 400MW units, bringing the total generating capacity to 5.6GW. The new plant will be the first of its kind in the Gulf with Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) systems to reduce SO2 emissions. In addition to this Gulf Project, Malbranque is currently producing valves for Alstom’s Flamanville project in France and their Medupi project in South Africa.
