Mechanised coupling system

FCx Orton, one of the world leaders in the production of triple eccentric metal-seated valves has invented a new mechanical coupling system between the shaft and the disc that the inventors believe is a major improvement over traditional locking system like keys or pins. The new system – which has a pending patent – has been developed by the Italian company’s research and development manager, Franco Vermigli. It is based on a cone coupling arrangement and offers a number of key advantages over conventional systems. These include the largest possible shaft resistant section; a shaft core which is free to be used for heating holes; zero gaps between components which guarantee effectiveness even with vibrations and a shaft and disc which can be machined separately. The new device is also completely inserted in the external disc profile, giving improved hydraulic characteristics. It has been registered as European patent request on the 23/11/2000 with the N° 00830770.4. This is just one example of FCx Orton’s commitment to developing new solutions and pushing back the boundaries of product performance. FCx Orton is part of FCx, one of the world’s leading flow control solutions providers with operating locations in Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific.
