Metso expands ESD valve diagnostic offering

Metso has launched partial stroke test (PST) system called Neles ValvGuard(TM) VG9PST. The solution helps customers diagnose the performance of emergency shutdown (ESD) valves, improve the cost efficiency of installations using an external solenoid valve, and eliminate costly spurious trips risk. The solution features increased pneumatic capacity and it is targeted for oil and gas industry customers, bringing advanced features for their ESD valve diagnostic needs.

Metso’s Neles ValvGuard features widespread installed base; top class intelligent safety solenoid with partial stroke testing features for emergency shutdown and venting valves.

Metso has enhanced its ValvGuard offering by launching a PST solution called VG9PST, which reduces the risk of spurious trips when a customer uses an external solenoid valve, minimizing the risk of consequent unwanted and costly plant shutdown.

The VG9PST offers additional safety by disabling all the testing and calibration if the input signal from the DCS falls below certain levels.

The VG9PST uses solenoid valve for the fail-safe action and it is used for testing purposes. The pneumatic capacity of the device allows valve operation without any external volume boosters.

The VG9PST has a green cover, which eliminates any risk for the plant’s operation.
