Natural gas field found in Indonesia

Government-affiliated oil exploration company INPEX Corp. has discovered a massive natural-gas field off Indonesia. Although the company said it had not yet determined how much natural gas it will be able to extract, industry sources said the deposit almost certainly exceeds 4 trillion cubic feet. The Tokyo-based company did, however, acknowledge that the deposit is large enough to make processing the natural gas into liquefied natural gas (LNG) and transporting it profitable. The company said it will start to produce the LNG on a commercial basis as early as 2010.
